Clubs and Groups


One of our core paradigms as a Leader in Me school is that everyone has genius. Club participation offers students the opportunity to find and explore their genius, build positive relationships with adults and peers, problem solve, think creatively, improve their communication skills and so much more.  There are dozens of club offerings at Edmonson, both during the day and after school hours. As part of our Leader in Me initiative, all students sign up to be in a club that meets once a month on Friday during the school day. Check out some of the exciting club offerings below.


Girls on the Run
       
 Sponsor: Lexi Cousino
         Meets twice a week after school.
         Girls learn valuable life lessons and prepare to run a 5K in the Spring.

Lighthouse Team
Advisors are teachers Mrs. Garabedian and Mrs. Weishaupt
Meets twice a month on Thursdays after school. 
Similar to a student council where members provide valuable input into the decisions and direction on school happenings.
Work on projects for the school and work on leadership skills.
Examples: recycling, mittens for kids, creating positive bulletin boards in the hallways.

Meet once a month

Art Club
Parent volunteers lead students in a craft or art project.  Information flyers are sent home and parents can sign their student up for a nominal cost to cover materials.
Meet once a month after school.

Below are the clubs offered as part of our monthly Leader in Me rotation.  Students select the club they want to be in and have the opportunity to try something new half way through the year.

Cooking Club
       Explore your inner chef!  The cooking club brings together amazing ingredients like math, leadership, synergy, and giggles to cook up some delicious treats. Students learn some kitchen basics while making new friends. 

Drawing Club
       Get in touch with your inner artist.  Students watch step-by-step videos to learn how to draw. 

Games Club
      The Game Club is a place for kids to play board games together.  They have a chance to practice being Proactive, Beginning with the End in Mind, and Thinking Win-Win.  Game Club is so much fun!

Craft Club
     We will be tapping into our creative energies to create small crafts to enjoy! For example, our first session we began creating a bead buddy lizard! Look for our completed pieces to be coming home soon. 

Kindness Matters
    The mission of this new club our Kindness Rocks Club is to spread joy and friendship through kindness projects.  This fall,  students in the club will create and sell calming jars.  The money they raise will be used to make Christmas gift bags for children in the hospital. 

Water, Water, Water
    Does it sink or float? We will be learning about water, making art with water and experimenting with water. We learned about buoyancy last time and next time will be making sensory bottles.
 
The Walking Club
   This club is for students who like to move.  Get your steps in with the Walking Club. 

Exercise/Workout Club
   New this year!  This club is for students who like to move.  Workouts will be student selected and student led. Get on your feet!

Music Club

   Sing along Karaoke style! Students will learn and sing songs together while also getting to use percussion instruments.  Can you feel the beat!

The Mindfulness Club
   Experience the calming benefits of gentle yoga, breathing, and mindfulness practice while building your emotional toolbelt. Namaste.

The Photography Club
    In the photography/mixed media club student will learn basic camera operating skills and lighting techniques. All students will take their own photos, print photos and create a final piece of work to take home. Each student will work on a theme for their project.  We will incorporate photographs and other print items into our final project.   

The Experiment Club
    Students participating in the experiment club will learn about the scientific method in a hands on way. Students will have the opportunity to explore, build, and create using a variety of tools and materials. Students will also learn more about S.T.E.A.M and Makerspace.
